Chiefs Cement Modern Dynasty Status

  • It sure paid to read LRT Super Bowl Sunday! Never a doubt… haha just kidding, I was sweating bullets the entire 75 minutes… But the Chiefs came through for us, cementing their dynasty status, and covering the spread. Principle: When Mahomes is catching points, the books can catch these bets. The real drama fell on the game’s total… Opening at 47.5 and closing at 46.5/47 (depending when and where you got it). The under was looking so good for so long, but after some overtime theatrics, somehow the game landed on 47… pain for the public that bet under on sunday afternoon, but I bet the guy who had 5,2 in your super bowl squares was pretty pumped about it!

  • LRT+ members boasted a +2.5 Unit gain… and our biggest play of the night hit in the 1st minute of the game! Shoutout to Shanahan for dialing up Juszczyk early!

  • We’re two days away from the start of All Star Weekend in Indianapolis. As for regular season games, we have a massive slate tonight, a small slate tomorrow, and then no games until next Thursday (2/22).

  • I’m going to tread lightly tonight and tomorrow, logically I won’t be hammering the overs on player props for guys who will be featured this weekend… but that’s just me. To receive our professional insights and projections sign up for LRT+ Upgrade (lockeroomtalk.co)

COLLEGE HOOPS
Top 15 SEC Matchup, Humpday Hoops

Betting on home dawgs has been pretty profitable so far this season… Just last night (2/13), #7 UNC (-8.5) went down @ Syracuse. Tonight, the Tennessee Volunteers travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 9pm ET. All else equal, we just saw the Vols get blown out in College Station last Saturday, so you’d think they’ll be ready to rebound in tonight’s game… For Arkansas, it’s been an underwhelming season to say the least, but they have covered in both of their big-ticket home matchups vs Duke (won outright) and Kentucky (back-door cheese). The Vols have the capability to blow out the Hogs, but this is definitely the best home game the Hogs have left, and I’ll be surprised if they don’t come out fired up and ready to compete tonight.

UCONN is the #1 team in the country and is playing @ DePaul (arguably the worst power 6 team in the country) … And although the headline is the bet home dawgs, I don’t think this one is worth going near… UCONN could win by 50 or if they come out relaxed and DePaul musters everything they have, they could cover that 25-point spread… Proceed with caution my friends āš ļø

#13 South Carolina catching 11.5 points @ #11 Auburn at 8:30pm ET. This one feels like a trap… I mean based on rankings, it’s absurd to think a team ranked only 2 spots higher than their opponents should be double digit favorite, regardless of the location. But here’s the catch, the matchups are weird for these teams and whichever team can establish their playstyle while dictate where this spread lands. The Gamecocks are big and like to slow down the game and wear down their opponents, while the Tigers like to get up and down at a high pace. If the tigers come out and establish this pace, this one could get out of hand… but on the other side, if the Gamecocks can enforce their will, this one should go down to the final possession. Of course, these factors also dictate which way the total will go so it’s really a hit or miss as to how this game plays out.

GOLF
Tiger’s Return, Recapping the Waste(d) Management

The Tour makes its way to Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, CA this week. One of the premier events of the season, this should make for a good one. Of course, the return of Tiger is the top headline this week, but will he win? The oddsmakers sure don’t think so (+12500). But, if you want action on Tiger, here is a guide on what to do How to Bet Tiger Woods This Week. This field is loaded with stars, but the question remains, who has value?

Scottie Scheffler (+700) - It’s hard not to like Scottie, that’s why he has the shortest odds in the field. He’s been at the top of every leaderboard so far this season and this course sets up well for his game. It’s too bad the odds reflect this, because if he gets his putter working for him, I don’t see anyone in the field beating him.

Justin Thomas (+1600) - JT is off to a great start this season and his game looks really solid. Each week that goes by, the inevitably of his return to the winner’s circle looms larger and larger. I don’t know if it’s worth taking him at these odds, but then again, I’m going to feel silly if I miss out on him the week he finally comes through with a dub.

Ludvig Aberg (+1800) - These are some short odds for a guy in only his 2nd professional season, but they are warranted. The kid has been a stick dating back to his college days at Texas Tech, and has comfortably asserted himself as a rising star on the PGA Tour. After finishing 2nd two weeks ago at Pebble Beach, he took a week off to get extra prepared for this event. I would be the least bit surprised to see him hoist the trophy come Sunday afternoon.

Wyndham Clark (+4000) - These odds feel a bit crazy for a guy who just set the Pebble course record on the way to a victory there two weeks ago. He followed it up with a measly performance at the Waste Management, but that doesn’t concern me following a victory. At these odds, he’s my favorite play of the week, he’s in good form and he has great juju in LA after winning the US Open last summer at Los Angeles Country Club.

Waste Management Recap:

Canadian Nick Taylor defeats Charley Hoffman in a two-hole playoff to claim victory. Inclement weather was the story during the early rounds, but once the skies cleared, scores went low. Also, the fans had themselves a time as they went on to set record beer sales at the event.
